Artichokes

Artichoke whose scientific name is Cynara scolymus. The tree averages about 1.2 to 1.5 m tall. Portions of flower buds, leaves and lean stems with a high nutritional composition are used as food and as medicine.

Health benefits include lower blood sugar levels and improved digestion, heart health, and liver health. Artichoke extract, which contains high concentrations of compounds found in the plant, is also increasingly popular as a supplement.

1. Prevent and treat cancer: Some experiments on the essence extracted from artichoke leaves show that artichokes can remove unnecessary cells (dead cells) from tissue without affecting other cells. It also limits cell growth to various forms of cancer such as prostate cancer, leukemia, and breast cancer.

2. Regulates the circulation of bile: Artichoke leaves contain a type of antioxidant called cynarine that regulates the flow of bile in the bile conduction system.

3. Good for the liver: The antioxidants cynarine and silymarin present in artichokes are very useful for the liver. Some experiments show that they also have the effect of restoring the function of the liver. In the past, artichokes were often used for long periods of time as herbal substitutes for medicine in the treatment of certain liver diseases.

4 Improve digestibility: Artichokes help the digestive system work better. They are natural diuretics, support digestive function, improve the function of the gallbladder and bring many practical benefits to the liver.

5. Treatment of nausea: The positive effects of artichokes on the liver will help treat nausea effectively. Therefore, you should use artichoke leaves if you have symptoms of nausea.

6. Lower cholesterol: The chemical components present in the leaves of artichokes can lower cholesterol levels by curbing HMG-CoA reductase (cholesterol synthesis compound). They increase HDL good cholesterol (protect against heart attack) and minimize bad LDL cholesterol (which creates plaque on blood vessels, causing heart attacks and strokes).
